Scheduling Active and Passive Measurements
نویسنده
چکیده
Abs t r ac t Many tracking systems involve basically active and passive subsystems. If i t can be reasonably assumed that passive measurements have no "cost", this is not true f o r active measurements. So, a general problem i s to scheduling active measurements, so as to combine them optimally with the passive ones. More generally, we are interested by optimizing controls i n the estimation procedure.

Comparative Measurements of Radon Concentration in Soil Using Passive and Active Methods in High Level Natural Radiation Area (HLNRA) of Ramsar
Background: Radon and its daughters are amongst the most important sources of natural exposure in the world. Soil is one of the significant sources of radon/thoron due to both radium and thorium so that the emanated thoron from it may cause increased uncertainties in radon measurements. Recently, a diffusion chamber has been designed and optimized for passive discriminative measurements of rado...

Knee is a common site of osteoarthritis possibly because it is often subject to trauma. Primary knee osteoarthritis has no known etiology while secondary osteoarthritis can be traced to abnormal joint mechanics. Actually, osteoarthritis may be a physiologic response to repetitive, longitudinal impulse loading of the joint. Knee proprioception derives from the integration of afferent s...
متن کاملRetrieval of soil surface roughness from active and passive microwave observations
Spatial and temporal variation in soil moisture plays a significant role in establishing efficient irrigation scheduling, climate change prediction, and sustainable land and water management. Passive microwave remote sensing at L-band is widely recognised as the preferred technique to measure surface soil moisture globally, with spatial resolution ranging from 40-100km. However, passive microwa...
متن کاملFault-Tolerant Rate-Monotonic First-Fit Scheduling in Hard-Real-Time Systems
ÐHard-real-time systems require predictable performance despite the occurrence of failures. In this paper, fault tolerance is implemented by using a novel duplication technique where each task scheduled on a processor has either an active backup copy or a passive backup copy scheduled on a different processor. An active copy is always executed, while a passive copy is executed only in the case ...
متن کاملEffect of Active Dynamic Versus Passive Static Stretching on Hamstring Muscle Tightness in Healthy Female Students: A Randomized Trial Study
Background: For decades, static stretching has been the standard benchmark for training programs, because it has been shown to increase flexibility compared with other methods of stretching. Objective: The current study investigated and compared the effects of active dynamic stretching and passive static stretching on hamstring tightness. Me...
